He started his career as a Democracy Practitioner at the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) where he designed projects that built capacity of political leaders and civil society in Haiti. In Canada, He managed several projects at the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development in Canada to support democracy promotion and Human Rights advocacy in Latin America ( Bolivia, Colombia, Haiti).

John served as Senior Governance Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and served as Political Analyst for ParlAmericas, an organization based in Ottawa that strengthens a network of Parliaments in the Americas.

John managed projects in 10 countries in West Africa that study and address the root causes of violent extremism in the Sahel and Lake Chad sub-regions by improving governance and helping communities build sound coalitions and advocacy campaigns.

As a political analyst, he worked for several institutions, including the International Crisis Group (ICG) and the Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution (NOREF)

John received the YouthActionNet award that recognizes his dedication to service and commitment to youth development. His book entitled : Démocratie: Mythes et Limites addresses the challenges of liberal democracy and provides critical insights on how to strengthen democratic norms, principles and practices in both established and emerging democracies.

He is the author of The Worst Mistakes Candidates Make and Timeless Lessons from the 2016 Election

A member of the National Speakers Association, Townsend has spoken to hundreds of audiences. He has lectured on politics and political warfare at the United States Military Academy, the Marketing Research Association, the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, the Coro and Luce Foundations, numerous colleges and universities. He has appeared on NBC, NY1, Time Warner’s Capitol Tonight, FOX News, Canadian TV and is a Sr. Global Advisor to the James Luce Foundation.

He resides in New York City.

Nadine holds a degree in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University and is fluent in several languages including French, English, and Arabic.

Nadine Kadri is a development practitioner with 20 years of experience in post-conflict stabiliza-tion and governance, working with marginalized communities in sub-Saharan Africa to resolve con-flict and improving governance through dialogue and partnerships. With a background in stabiliza-tion and governance, Ms. Kadri currently serves as a Program Director at Politicom. Previously, she was chief of party of the Voice for Peace (V4P) program, which supported civil society organiza-tions to influence reforms that improve good governance and resolve local conflicts across the Sa-helian Countries – Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, & Cameroon – in order to address issues of violent extremism. She has extensive experience on cutting-edge conflict mitigation and governance work at regional, national, and local levels. Prior to leading V4P, MS. Kadri led several USAID-funded stabilization programs that supported improved stability and governance in a large number of countries including Kenya, Sudan, and Iraq. She holds a degree in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University and is fluent in several languages including French, English, and Arabic.
